About us

HyTe stands for health and wellbeing

HyTe is a networking NGO for volunteer organizations and other third sector contributors to citizens’ health and wellbeing.

We bring together over 80 non-governmental member associations in the Uusimaa Region. As a regionally operating umbrella organization, we support our members by boosting their capabilities online and offline, and by promoting a favourable environment for NGOs.

Our mission is to shed light on social problems and come up with bold and sustainable solutions together with our public and third sector partners. HyTe is actively involved in building dialogue and cooperation between NGOs and the public sector at all levels of decision-making.

We also provide help and support for hospitalized patients, senior citizens, immigrant associations and the unemployed.

What we do

  • Increase public awareness of volunteer opportunities, advise NGOs on funding sources, support their volunteer recruitment and training, as well as coordinate networking between local volunteer associations
  • As Finland’s biggest health and social services reform in decades takes form, we help establish the structures for cooperation between NGOs and the new wellbeing services counties in the Uusimaa Region
  • Provide and promote digital services bringing together NGOs, the public sector and residents of Uusimaa seeking activities, volunteer opportunities or support (Lähellä.fi online portal)
  • Offer “a shoulder to lean on” (in Finnish, OLKA) for hospitalized patients and people with chronic illnesses by organizing and coordinating hospital volunteer and peer support both digitally and face-to-face
  • Organize volunteer help and good company for senior citizens so that they can better manage and enjoy everyday life
  • Cooperate with various immigrant associations in order to facilitate networking and social integration
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to individually support and coach jobseekers who are in a difficult labour market position
  • Provide facilities for citizen activities at a reasonable price or free of charge, as well as promote an online hub (tilapankki.fi) for letting and renting temporary office space and meeting rooms for NGOs and small businesses
